132 Year Event Seeks Help To Keep A Tradition Alive

Buffalo Grove, Illinois (PressExposure) August 20, 2009 -- FIRST TO OFFER FOOT LONG BRATWURST: 14 PIECE BAND DIRECT FROM GERMANY: MAN GETS HONORED FOR 100 YEARS OF SERVICE.

On August 22/23 2009 celebrates the 132nd annual non-for- profit festival which started as the Cannstatter Volks Fest. Its name has been changed several times in the past. This year they are naming it “OKTOBERFEST IN AUGUST” to inspire more people to attend because of the recognition of the name. The event will take place on the center grounds. 301 N. Weiland Rd, Buffalo grove, Il.

This would be the first Fest to offer the FOOT LONG BRATWURST. This year a 14 piece band direct from Germany will be performing. George Boehm (the president of the Schwaben Verein) was honored by the German community for his 100 years of service. These are combined years added up from all the clubs he is affiliated with.

George is worried that the club won’t be able to continue the Fest if they don’t have a strong turnout .The earnings from the fest helps pay for the upkeep of the grounds, maintenance on the building and some donations to charities.

Let’s look back to 1877 when this all began People coming on horse and buggy, bratwurst cooking in a kettle over an opened fire, beer pouring out of a wooden keg, people dancing and singing in the street.

COULD YOU NOT HELP US KEEP A TRADITION ALIVE FOR ANOTHER 132 YEARS? ANY KIND OF EXPOSURE WILL BE APPRECIATED.

FROM ALL OF US AT THE SCHWABEN VEREIN WE SAY THANK YOU. HARRY VIZ 1-847-344-1066 thespicemann@yahoo.com
