13 Year Writer's Block Shattered

Santa Rosa, California (PressExposure) July 27, 2011 -- AUTHOR ROBBI SOMMERS BRYANT COMES OUT SWINGING

A psychotherapist gave Robbi Sommers Bryant a writing assignment that launched a stellar writing career. From 1987-1997, three novels, five collections of short stories and one poetry collection by Robbi were published. Both her fiction and non-fiction works appeared in magazines such as Redbook and Reader's Digest. One article was optioned twice by agents for a possible movie of the week and used in a college academic book on how to write an essay.

In 1997, the tragic and unexpected death of her 21-year-old son shut down Robbi's flowing imagination. The following years, Robbi tried everything she could to re-light her creative flame, to no avail. Already depressed over the loss of her son, Robbi fell even deeper into the abyss.

"I thought lightning would have to strike me," Bryant said. "Nothing else that I tried moved me. Until, one day, without much thought, I dusted off an old manuscript, sat in front of my computer and forced myself to write. I believed if I stopped to think, plot, edit-I'd lose the power that propelled me forward. My creativity flowered and the more I wrote, the more expansive my imagination became."

Robbi's psychological thriller, THE BEAUTIFUL EVIL, is the first major work she's published since the death of her son. Loosely based on Pandora's Box, an emotionally bereft and shutdown woman purchases an antique Greek vase that, upon opening, releases changes she could not have imagined. Wasp-like creatures escape from the vase and offer her what appears to be the chance of a lifetime. However, things aren't what they seem ... or are they?

Referring to THE BEAUTIFUL EVIL on her website, Robbi asks her readers: How well do you know yourself? If forced to either face your inner demons, escaping with a secured, inner peace or complete emotional ruin - how would you fare? They dwell in all of us. They watch us from our shadows. They ride us-Oh yes they do-whispering in our ears, tempting us with our own darkness. In the end, many succumb.

And you?

Besides writing and editing, Robbi is now a certified Modern Day Muse Workshop facilitator and leads workshops as well as gives private consultations on igniting the creative flame.
