Nyc, NY (PressExposure) March 17, 2010 -- March 2010 – When asked U.S. Citizens what one of the main reasons for trying to switch their automotive insurance company to another, one-third (33%) of self-proclaimed lesbians and gays stated that one of the top three reasons they would switch would be to get an insurance carrier that will offer domestic partner benefits and discounts.

This survey that was conducted nationwide of a total of 2,514 American adults aged over 18 showed that 303 of them were self-proclaimed lesbian or gay. This also includes bisexual and transgender adults. This survey was conducted and observed by Harris Interactive.

The survey showed that lesbians and gays were twice as likely as heterosexuals to buy their auto insurance over the Internet. One out of six (17%) of lesbians and gays stated that they bought their main auto insurance over the Internet to only 8% of that of heterosexuals. For those that purchase their main auto insurance through an agent rather than online, 42% are lesbians and gays compared to that of 35% of heterosexuals.

When it comes to insurance, there are fewer reporting’s of lesbians and gays than that of heterosexuals. The survey went on to show that close to half of lesbian and gay U.S. adults do not carry extra insurance compared to that of one-third of heterosexuals.
