Norwich, United Kingdom (PressExposure) September 17, 2009 -- In 1984 fashion shows, exhibitions, awards and social events were all arranged with a direct industry focus, creating London Fashion Week as we know it now. Galliano started his career here, showcasing his graduate collection, which was purchased by Browns boutique.
1988 saw Naomi Campbell walk the runway for Jasper Conran. Later in the year she modelled for the front cover of French Vogue, the first black woman to do so. This was also the year that Kate Moss was discovered at JFK airport.
Alexander McQueen made his designing debut in 1992 and received high praise from his peers. As Harriet Quick at Vogue recollects, "The designs were radical, disturbing and visceral at a time when taste meant sleek and minimal."
In 1995 Stella McCartney directed her first major fashion show, supported by the aforementioned Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. Kylie Minogue also took a stroll down the catwalk for Antonio Beradi.
Victoria Beckham had a go at modelling in 2000 when she walked for Maria Grachvogel. She declared the experience "absolutely petrifying."
So, here we are in 2009, let the celebrations commence! Big name shows will include Matthew Williamson, Pringle and Burberry and there will be plenty of other events going on to keep the fashionistas entertained. Models Direct just can't choose who they're most excited about but Christopher Kane, Fashion East and Vivienne Westwood's Red Label are pretty high in the list!
