Jaipur, India (PressExposure) April 21, 2009 -- Lucknow. There are 41 crorepatis including Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi contesting elections in phase II in 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh going to polls on April 23.
The ruling BSP has the maximum number of 11 crorepatis followed by 10 of the SP, 9 of BJP , 6 of Congress and 2 of Apna Dal. Among major parties the average asset value of a candidate for BSP is Rs 3.84 cr, SP is Rs 1.8 cr, Congress is Rs 1.7 cr and BJP is Rs 1.2 cr.
In the first phase of election in 16 LS constituencies where polling was held on April 16, there were 35 crorepatis.
But surprisingly Daya Shanker Patwa of the less known Peace Party contesting from Basti Lok Sabha is the richest candidate in phase-II with his total assets crossing Rs 34 crore mark.
The second and third position was grabbed by the ruling BSP when their candidate Rakesh Pandey in Ambedkar Nagar with Rs 16 crore and Ashok Bajpai from Allahabad with Rs 14 crore were in the crorepati list.
However, the addition of assets of both the BSP candidates could not cross the assets of the Peace Party candidate of Basti.
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi comes to the 16th spot with his asset of Rs 2.32 crore.
In Fourth position is SP`s bidi king and candidate from Phulpur Shyama Charan Gupta with an asset of Rs 13.5 crore followed by BSP candidate and erstwhile Raja of Ayodhya Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra contesting from Faizabad whose assets is worth Rs 10.80 crores.
Mafia turned politician Atiq Ahmed contesting from Pratapgarh this time on Apna Dal ticket has assets worth Rs 10.8 crore. Besides this Pradep Srivastava also of Apna Dal have an asset worth Rs 1.12 crore. Interestingly Mr Srivastava was contesting the Phulpur seat on the Apna Dal ticket while the president of the party Dr Sone Lal Patel was contesting as an independent.
Another Peace Party candidate from Domariyaganj Inamullah Choudhury has also declared his asset worth Rs 1.16 crore.
Senior BJP leader and national general secretary Vinay Katiyar, in the fray from Ambedkarnagar has showed his assets to the tune of Rs 1.77 crore while former UP Congress president Jagdambika Pal contesting from Domariyaganj has disclosed his assets to thetune of Rs 4.97 crore.
