Atlanta, GA (PressExposure) June 25, 2013 -- Atlanta International Fashion Week launches the Fashion Apprentice Pretty Academy Ambassador and Mentor Program as a chance for emerging talents interested in the fashion, design, beauty and retail industry to gain hands-on experience and education through a partnership with Bauder College.
Details regarding all AIFW has to offer can be found at http://www.atlantaintlfashionweek.com. Pretty Academy workshops will be held at Bauder College on Friday, July 26, from 1pm-5pm.
The Fashion Apprentice Pretty Academy is a series of workshops with a fashion and beauty industry focus. Classes will be instructed by experts in design, retail and aesthetics. Some courses include "Beauty Shop," "Fashion 101: Style Basics," "Model Therapy," and "The Art of Cosmetics & Skincare." Pretty Academy will also include fashion workshops, design suites and model boot camp.
Bauder College is a leader in the Atlanta area for fashion industry training, from design to merchandising, offering Associate degrees in both areas. The fashion programs are designed to prepare students with skills needed to succeed in the industry, including a strong foundation of design, illustration, and computer and presentation skills. Graduates have gone on to careers in design, illustration, styling, retail management, merchandising and more.
Beyond fashion week, the Fashion Apprentice program will be expanded to accommodate twenty girls as "Pretty Apprentices" to encourage, guide and educate girls on the ins and outs of the fashion industry by providing enrichment programs, workshops and seminars. The goal of AIFW "Pretty Apprentices" will be to offer assistance by giving a first-hand view on how the different elements of style, design, retail and aesthetics come together to collectively create the fashion industry.
Following an initial review, a short list of applicants will be selected by the AIFW Advisory board and may either be invited to participate in one-on-one interviews conducted in Atlanta or via Teleconference by the fashion mentors and AIFW.
Applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed for interviews. Applicants must be between 8 to 18 years of age with interest in the fashion industry. They should demonstrate vision, skill, creativity, innovation and business acumen. The internship(s) will be a minimum of 1 week during AIFW for the first phase.
