AMPI Riviera Maya names Thomas Lloyd Realtor of the Year

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (PressExposure) October 01, 2009 -- At its annual ceremony for swearing in the new President and board, AMPI Riviera Maya (a chapter of Mexico's Association of Real Estate Professionals, AMPI) named Thomas Lloyd Riviera Maya's "TOP Realtor of the Year." The award acknowledges Lloyd's dedication to providing accurate information and top quality service for non-Mexican buyers, and a dedication to promoting further education within the industry.

"Dealing in Mexico is quite different than from what we are accustomed to in our home countries," observes Lloyd. "Non-Mexican first time buyers might receive incomplete information from un-experienced real estate people in Mexico which many times puts their interests and monies at risk. The regulations in Mexico are not as developed as the laws that protect the consumers from back home leaving the non-Mexican at an additional risk. Being a real estate professional means contemplating hundreds of different scenarios that should be addressed within the contracts. This is the main reason we created and introduced the web site TopMexicoRealEstate.com."

Lloyd is the founder and president of TopMexicoRealEstate.com, a website which is dedicated to providing accurate information for non-Mexican buyers from "certified professionals that specialize in guiding new buyers through the Mexican purchasing process." The website posts information and tips which these professionals provide through their extensive, direct experience in thousands of Mexico real estate transactions. In addition to having years of experience and being certified professionals, the TOPMexicoRealEstate brokers, who have been identified as TOP real estate experts in their areas, are many times active within the AMPI organizations, and have received education from recognized institutions. These factors combine to offer foreign buyers the information and advice they need to purchase property safely in Mexico.

"The Riviera Maya TOP Realtor of the Year Award," pointed out Lloyd, "is a wonderful demonstration that realtors and organizations from all of Mexico are placing an ever increasing importance and attention on the education and the improved regulations of this industry to protect investors and consumers."

The importance Lloyd places on excellence in service for international clients is shown through his dedication to education and regulations. In 2008, Thomas Lloyd began the process to obtain the first generation real estate degree and professional identification number, a new process in Mexico which was created and is jointly administered by AMPI and SEP (Secretary of Public Education). In July, 2009, Lloyd was the first realtor in the history of Mexico to receive this new degree.

Lloyd has also attended Purdue University, where he studied in the Krannert School of Management, and earned a degree in Business, Finance Option. Lloyd has completed graduate studies at La Salle University in the area of Mexico Real Estate.

Since Lloyd moved to Mexico in the mid 90s, he has gained significant experience in Mexico's business world, especially the Mexico Real Estate industry. Lloyd has written many real estate articles which have been published in key periodicals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He holds the official federal government Certification in Mexico Real Estate. He has actively participated in AMPI for several years, and is currently a board member of AMPI Riviera Maya, serving on the Committee for Honor and Justice.
