A Novel To End Poverty

Los Angeles, CA (PressExposure) July 11, 2009 -- Imagine coming into a city with intentions of living inside when something terribly changes causing you to spin wildly through the lost world of L.A. until you are sucked into the arms of a con artist just to get inside for a couple weeks, then inevitably it ends when rent isn’t paid and you end up living on the beach. Then see what its like through the eyes of a hobo meeting all the homeless on an epic of survival in Venice where weird settings meet the ocean.

This is not a fairy tail picture but an actual journal document of Craig Bowman‘s story, author of the new book A Strange Delicate Flower. From March to December of 2007, Bowman woke outside in cold self survival wondering how he could ever get himself out of the situation. Then he meets a Violette, girl in a van, in which they both fall in love and fight homelessnes together for months. As the writer gets deeper into homelessnes, more weirdoes attempt to suck him in, vagrancy propels him out of cafes with teary eyes, and finding a home seems hopeless. He spends most of his time behind a building in a cabinet next to The Go-Go Dancer, or on the beach with his mentor Lukaword (the driftwood carrying bum.) The characters embrace minimalism of food, sleep without shelter during grips of chilly desert nights. The difficulty for the yong writer is convincing himself that hope rises above his fast slipping sanity.

Well into the seasons his writing uncoversa prolific sense of truth in his hobo rawness that signifies importance in relationships of struggle in times of desperation. In the depth of his challenging battle, Bowman suddenly attains hope: provides himself with a chance to save him and his girl friend from disaster, in an outrageous turn of events that will make the reader’s hearts quiver. Lessons of courage stream out of his shocking experiences with desperate madmen all trying to survive. The dark answers of the soul emerge for glimmering moments of realization when reaching his homeless breaking point, changing his life forever.

A Strange Delicate Flower is not just a story of one man’s journey of homelessness but the spiritual lessons of pain and suffering into a remarkable literary achievement. Following his experience, author Bowman has changed the perspectives of citizens with his story in many settings of life in hope to enlighten about the extreme poverty in the world.
