Who Is America's Favorite Love Columnist?
Lee Hiller, originally of Portland, Or; now living in the Ouichata Mountains of Arkansas, always wanted to write. She knew she had the talent and in the early years of her life, pre-Internet or MS Word. During her youth through young adulthood she was never without a pen and pad of paper. But she never felt support for that dream and shoved it aside. After college, she worked in the IT industry from the Asia Pacific to New Zealand.
When she returned to her hometown of Portland, she decided in mid-life it was time to give it a shot. She pondered awhile as to what her âtopic focusâ would be, and she decided upon âloveâ. She considers herself (and her fiance' agrees to be a romanticist). Together, they find they love reading the poems of Rumi to one another. On another day, they will share spiritual and pragmatic quotes from Emerson.
Earlier this year, after honing her skills in the world of freelance writing (and becoming an âexpert authorâ at Ezinearticles.com. After positive feedback on her articles, she decided to approach the publisher of a small American-based English/French online periodical for a chance. She wrote for the publication for several months and for six weeks her weekend love column became number one on Google News every weekend, often bumping stories offered by the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and others on similar lifestyle-type topics. Suddenly the small unknown periodical was also gaining ground but for whatever reason, was not impressed, and did zero promotion of Ms. Hiller, so she decided to leave and build her own âLove Column Websiteâ LeeHiller.com.
Her column is apparently read by many, and proof of that is in many of the comments left on her site; even some âhousehold brand namesâ such as author/actress Mariel Hemingway, philosopher/author Tom V. Morris, and entrepreneur/mom Kathy Ireland, as well as many others.
What is unique about her column is that she not only has a question and answer section, but her own essays on a myriad of love topics; romantic love, âlove in actionâ such as taking care of an ill neighbor, properly caring for and loving animals, loving and proper care of loving one's children, etc. She also never preaches. When a question arrives, she only tells what she would do (or has done); she humbles herself to admit there could also offers research and statistics to help a reader make important love decisions.
Lee Hiller also âwalks the walkâ of love, says her fiance' Rick London who ironically is also a writer and designer and founder of the #1 Google-ranked offbeat cartoon Londons Times. âWhen Lee loves, she commits to it and shares her entire being. I love being around her. I see how she treats other people, animals, children and the planet in general and I learn from her. She generously teaches and never preaches. I appreciate that and her very much. She is a special angel to me (and many others).â
