Norwich, United Kingdom (PressExposure) September 30, 2009 -- Any aspiring model will be grateful for any break in the industry - and our models at Models Direct were given just such a chance to practice and improve their runway walks while raising money for charity.
Modelling agency Models Direct provides models for all sorts of projects. A client could be looking for models to star in a television commercial, pose for catalogue photos or to help promote a new product or service.
Clients have a budget that they need to stick to when considering models, and sometimes this budget can be nothing at all. Clients such as charities or students often won't have a large amount of money to spend, if any, and although this may put some professional models off, there are still plenty of up-and-coming models who are willing to work for nothing.
Modelling can be a hard industry to make a career out of and so getting experience whenever possible will boost your chances of getting work. Not only does it mean you can add to your portfolio, it will also increase your confidence in front of people and cameras.
So when student Melanie Young approached the agency looking for models willing work for free, Models Direct were happy to find them. Four women were required for a fashion show in aid of Cancer Research UK that Mel was organising as part of her coursework. Models Rebecca H, Rebecca B, Carly and Emma were the lucky models chosen.
They were all grateful for the opportunity despite not getting paid, a big difference to models that refuse to work unless they're receiving huge amounts of money. The Models Direct girls were just pleased to get some experience, especially as it was for such a great cause.
This was the first catwalk assignment for all of them and they had a great time. "It's everything I ever wanted to do, so being a model for the day felt like the beginning of my dreams," says Rebecca H. "It was a great experience and I would love to do it again."
So, if you are interested in becoming a model, joining Models Direct could be a great way to get some valuable experience!
