Arthritis Center Celebrates National Wife Appreciation Day

Frederick, MD (PressExposure) August 29, 2008 -- "Women wield a lot of power in our society. In fact, a 1997 nationwide New York Times/CBS News Poll showed that women are the main medical decision makers for their families, and they report having more health problems than men.," states Dr. Nathan Wei. He added, "Respondents of both sexes in the study said generally that women handle pain and being sick a lot better than men do."

"Plus, while many forms of arthritis affect women more than men, it is usually the women who are responsible for getting their husbands to come in and get diagnosed and treated. Most men absolutely dread going to a doctor... and it's their wives who make the decision to make them come in. It's funny... because afterwards, the husbands are so grateful," adds Dr. Wei.

"Sixteen women work here and they almost all are or have been wives. I think it's great that there is day that honors their role in running our lives," concludes Dr. Wei. He adds, "Now that may not make me popular with other guys but I know deep down they know it's true!"
