Norcross, Georgia (PressExposure) August 07, 2009 -- NBC Affiliate WXIA Channel 11 in Atlanta featured the web site BuySellSwapStuff.com on its11:00 PM news segment called "Ways to Save" and hundreds flocked to use the site for FREE.
The station, called 11Alive.com, featured the unique new web site called BuySellSwapStuff.com last week. Three years in the making, this entrepuneur decided to build a web site that could compete with the biggest and best online auction and ad site in the world, eBay. The site works very similar to eBay, although more simple, and it is also much cheaper for everything from ad posts to final selling fees. The site itself actually offers unlimited free posts to anyone in the world for their first 90 days, but to help stimulate the economy, the site owner extended the free offer to all viewers of NBC Atlanta affiliate WXIA TV on their popular "Ways to Save" news segment.
The station's co-anchor Valerie Hoff, hosts a daily segment in the news to help their viewers save. So, when site owner and developer, James Welch, offered the free use deal to Valerie in an effort to help people save money in this tough economy, she took him up on his offer. By registering under the special code Free11Alive, viewers are able to sell their house, their car, collectibles, or anything else they want to sell, at no cost to them.
When Welch was asked why he built the site, he commented "I have always loved buying and selling pre-owned stuff and finding bargains, because one man's trash is another man's treasure. One day I decided that I could develop a web site that would be easy and affordable to use and I could have some fun doing it. Probably was more work to get launched than I thought but it has been fun. We decided to offer it free for a year on the Channel 11 program because the station is working hard to help people find ways to save money in these tough times, and we wanted to contribute."
