Woodland Hills, California (PressExposure) September 24, 2009 -- Pressexposure/ -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administrationâs (NHTSA) July 20009 report, âMotorcyclists Injured in Motor Vehicle Traffic Accidentsâ (DOT HS 811 149), found that injuries sustained by motorcyclists increased 110 percent from 1998 to 2007. The number jumped from 49,000 in 1998 to 103,000 in 2007.
âMotorcycle accidents can result in debilitating injuries, permanent disfigurement, or even death,â says California motorcycle accident attorney Robert A. Brenner. âAs a motorcycle enthusiast, I understand the dangers that motorcyclists face every time they ride.â
The NHTSA report found that two-thirds of all motorcycle accidents with vehicles occurred from April to September, more than 60 percent occurred during the daytime, and only 63 percent or 65,000 motorcyclists out of the 103,000 were helmeted at the time of the crash.
The Law Offices of Robert A. Brenner is a legal advocate for those suffering from injuries sustained in motorcycle accidents. Brenner has been a long-time accident attorney representing motorcyclists. Among those he has helped, he is responsible for a $500,000 recovery for the plaintiff in Medin v. City of Oxnard. The plaintiffâs collision with a pickup truck resulted in a fractured femur, tibia, and fibula, and an open reduction internal fixation.
âWhen a personâs negligence results in serious injury or the wrongful death of a motorcyclist, compensation to the victim or the victimâs family can help pay for the medical costs or compensate for the loss of life,â says Brenner. âEvery person owes a duty to act as a reasonable and prudent would in the same or similar circumstances. The failure to do this can sometimes lead to serious financial consequences for the person at fault, even when the result is unintended.â
