Los Angeles, CA (PressExposure) January 16, 2012 -- On Sunday January 15, 2012 FX's network president John Landgraf confirmed that "American Horror Story" creator/producer Ryan Murphy is now in the process of casting season 2. Casting director Eric Dawson has been retained for his second season of day-to-day casting duties. Auditions and casting for the show's stars, guest stars, and day players is taking place in Los Angeles - although the story will take place in a new locale. Filming will still take place in the Los Angeles area, therefore all of the extras, stand-ins, and photo-doubles will also be cast in L.A.
Jessica Lange will be one of the familiar faces who will be seen in "American Horror Story" season 2. Met backstage at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the actress revealed she is signing up for the new chapter of the FX horror show. She stated that she will be playing an entirely new character. Two or three other season 1 actors will be returning for the for the second season as completely different characters, creatures, monsters, etc.
Movie stars who had toyed with the idea of starring in television have been contacting the producer to star in "American Horror Story" due to its unique structure. Set as an anthology piece with seasonal storylines, American Horror Story can sign film actors to three or four month shooting commitments rather than a five-year-plus contract. This is ideal for big movie stars with a taste for the small screen.
"American Horror Story" finished out it's freshman season as the number 1 new drama on basic cable in the coveted 18-49 demographic, as well as the highest-rated freshman season of any series on FX Network history. The series was nominated for the 69th Golden Globe Awards for Best Drama Series, and Jessica Lange won for Best Supporting Actress. Season 2 premiers October, 2012.
In addition to the principal actor roles being cast, the extras casting directors are currently seeking extras for "American Horror Story" Season 2. They are casting 18 to look younger guys and girls both SAG and Non-union.
