Pierre, SD (PressExposure) September 06, 2013 -- Popular football stars will join Lionel Messi on FIFA 14 cover. UK, France, Spain and Italy will have special covers with those players, but there will be more. By now, it is also confirmed special cover stars on North America and Central & South America. EA Sports have revealed the cover star for Australian and New Zealand version of FIFA 14. Joining Barcelona and Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi on the Aussie cover this year is Australian and New York Red Bulls star, Tim Cahill.
Here is official FIFA 14 cover for Australia featuring Messi and Tim Cahill:
This is the fifth time Cahill has appeared on the local cover of the world's most popular sports game, as Australia's most recognizable international football player. This confirms his continued success both in overseas competition and as a member of Australia's World cup team. He actually plays FIFA quite a bit as well, which is always nice.
Tim Cahill currently plays for the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer and Australia's Socceroos national team. Prior to joining New York, he played his club football in England for Everton where he built up a cult following. And he is known for his ability to get a head on just about any kind of service and convert it into a goal, remarkable leap despite his height, and scoring the majority of his goals with his head. Cahill has become one of the highest profile footballers in the Asian Football Confederation, earning 63 caps and scoring 28 goals for his country.
This season, Cahill has scored six goals in the MLS as the Red Bulls currently sit atop the tightly-contested Eastern Conference. As a member of Australia's National Team, Cahill notched three goals throughout qualifying for Australia's third consecutive FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Brazil next summer.
This partnership will see Tim continue his role as Australia's leading EA SPORTS Football Ambassador. He will be the cornerstone of marketing and advertising campaigns in Australia, featuring on packaging, and collaborating with EA SPORTS on social media activities. FIFA 14 has been confirmed for release on September 24 in North America, September 26 in Australia and September 27 across Europe, on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with next-gen consoles to follow.
