Houston, Texas (PressExposure) February 18, 2013 -- Author Christie A.C. Gucker, a New Jersey native, in conjunction with Pagan Writers Press, has released her second novel, "The Purple Heart". "The Purple Heart" is a fictional romance story that focuses on a highly-decorated soldier, Sergeant Aiden Thane, returning from war after being injured and receiving the Purple Heat, and the army psychologist, Sydney Porter, who falls in love with him while trying to help him recover from PTSD. The story revolves around the mystery of his seemingly non-existent past and what he is hiding from her. The story also contains a secondary love story of a married lesbian couple, best friends to Sydney, who are her voice of reason throughout the book.
"The Purple Heart" touches on PTSD, and as a result, has caused an initial buzz among the military in anticipation of its publication. Gucker has teamed with military organization Battling B.A.R.E. to help spread the word to a new demographic in to hopes to get the message out about how to help service men and their families deal with this silent disease. She is also hoping to build tolerance amongst her readers for the marriage of gay couples with her secondary love story in this book.
"The Purple Heart" is Gucker's second novel published through Pagan Writers Press, an indie publisher based in Houston, Texas. "The Cliff," a five-star rated novel on Amazon and Goodreads, was her first.
Reviews of "The Cliff" have praised the semi-erotic components of the story and captivating love triangle captured in the storyline as well as created excitement for Gucker's new work. Gucker's two short stories, "The Adventure of a Lifetime" and "Snapshot to Destiny" have both reached multiple best sellers list on Amazon for Romance, Fantasy/Paranormal, Romance: Short Story. She has also reached the Top 25 author list on the Authors Database (authorsDB.com).
Gucker is currently working on her third novel, "Pacifically You", while collaborating with shark conservationist and celebrity TV host, Luke Tipple. His contributions will help provide authenticity to the story; and in turn, Gucker will be donating a portion of Pacifically You's proceeds to the Shark Free Marina Initiative.
Each novel is an independent publication, unrelated to the other.

Christie A.C. Gucker lives in NJ with her husband, two daughters and a menagerie of pets. Being a mother is one of the greatest joys of her life. She has worked in the advertising industry for over 20 years as a degreed artist, but also works in the fine arts, especially sculpting out of stone or snapping photographs. Christie is also a singer and musician, and can be found singing on a few CDs.
After the death of her father, Christie searched for something to fill her desire to make a mark in this world. Her love of the arts and creativity allowed her to search for a new medium, which she found with a pen instead of a brush. Being an avid reader her whole life, and with her family cheering her on, she decided to take her shot, and began writing.
