Saint Louis, MO (PressExposure) April 18, 2008 -- CRASH! is a childrenâs picture book for ages 2-6 about a little boy and his golden retriever puppy.
Blurb: Marcelo is thrilled when he gets a golden retriever puppy for his birthday, but now he faces one of the toughest jobs of his life, not only because owning a pet is a huge responsibility, but because he has to find the perfect name for itâand thatâs hard!
âAs the proud owner of a golden retriever myself, I know how special these sensitive and amazingly intelligent dogs can be,â says the author. âI wanted to do something about those poor goldens in need who have been abandoned or are in some way âunadoptableâ by ordinary standards. At Almost Heaven no golden retriever is turned away, no matter its age or condition. I think what this organization is doing is admirable, and I want to be a part of it. The money donated will be used for food, medications, bedding, toys, etc.. One little kind act at a time, thatâs all it takes to make a difference.â
The author first came acquainted with Almost Heaven after reading Dean Koontzâs novel, The Darkest Evening of the Year and subsequently doing a search online for dog rescue organizations. âKoontzâs novel, whose protagonist runs one of these rescues, touched me at a deep emotional level,â says Calvani. âWhen I stumbled across Almost Heaven, I felt an immediate, almost preternatural connection. Not to mention the interesting coincidence that my book is published under Guardian Angelâs âLittlest Angelsâ imprint, and Almost Heavenâs logo sports a golden retriever with an angelâs halo. Thatâs too many angels!â
