Chicago, Illinois (PressExposure) March 21, 2012 -- Critically acclaimed author and family law attorney Jeffery M. Leving welcomes Dr. William Martin and matrimonial attorney Michael Benz as guest analysts on "Chicago Counterpoint" airing on CAN-TV (Ch.21) this Thursday at 8:00 PM. These three advocates for children, families, and responsible fatherhood will examine the challenges facing fathers and children from a legal, educational, and emotional perspective offering advice and potential solutions to the community's questions during this live call-in show.
Dr. William Martin, the author of several books on parenting as well as Speak Power, Speak Wealth, and Speak Freedom: Paradigm Processing Tearing Down the Walls, is counselor, lecturer, and Associate Director of Nontraditional Degree Programs at Chicago State University. Dr. Martin, a tireless advocate for responsible fatherhood education, stated in a recent lecture on the growing population of single fathers and the need for specialized support, "Fathers need outside help and a strong support system that is different than moms. Education is important and something we need to look at more closely."
As an efficacious and strategic litigator, Attorney Michael Benz, has successfully defended fathers falsely accused of abuse often in highly complex cases involving child custody and removal. In a recent victory, Attorney Benz was instrumental in reuniting two young boys with their father after the children had been unlawfully removed from Illinois and taken to an Indian Reservation. Benz also prevailed in a highly-contested custody case where father was awarded custody of his children after the mother had abandoned them only to return and attempt to remove one of the children to California by force.
"Clients often come to me after their case has been through extensive litigation and they have become discouraged believing their case is unwinnable. As an attorney I have to be mindful that persistence, preparation, and insight is the key to winning these types of cases and that a client should never give up hope," said Attorney Benz. "Chicago Counterpoint" Host Atty. Jeffery Leving (http://dadsrights.com) has co-authored the new Illinois Right to DNA Testing Notice and Unlawful Visitation and Parenting Time Interference Laws, as well as the Joint Custody Law.
