Austin, TX (PressExposure) February 03, 2009 -- Aviva, a new monthly newspaper with an editorial accent on Hispanic Austin has launched. The inaugural January edition features several notable personalities including a profile of Senator Gonzalo Barrientos, contributions from Martha Cotera and City Councilman Mike Martinez, and unique coverage of Tejano and Latin music, food and Latino society.
The paper, a full color and richly decorated 16-page tab, is being distributed throughout the city. Aviva was created to promote the concept of community in an ethnically diverse metropolis. Austin thrives in its multicultural vitality and Aviva plans to capture that growing appreciation for Hispanic culture.
"We hope to unite the community around its unique Tex-Mex heritage," publisher/editor Gavin Lance Garcia states. "Aside from coverage of the arts, letters, and lifestyle, we will focus on becoming a community advocate for social exchange and touch upon sensitive subjects including race and ethnic identity."

Aviva is published by Spark Awakened Publishing/EFG Group and is owned by Garcia, Hernandez and musician Frank Gomez.
