Back to School - Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield is Registering for Fall

Marshfield, MA (PressExposure) September 19, 2008 -- The Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield’s purpose is to establish a safe haven for recreation, which includes a variety of supervised activities for greater than 4,000 youths (between the ages of 6 to 18 years old) within the town. The club has five Core Areas which programs and activities are built upon: Character and Leadership; Education and Career; Health, Sport Fitness Recreation and Life Skills; The Arts; and Technology.

Fall programming will include Money Matters, Power Hour and Varsity Soccer. Field trips will include a “Polar Express” train expedition.

Over the summer, more than 50 youths attended the club daily and enjoyed games, arts and crafts, creative writing, indoor sports and a number of other enrichment activities. Camp Chuckles, a one-week stand-up comedy workshop geared towards middle and high school students, which was led by local comedian and teacher, Chrissy Kelleher Milton High School Social Studies teacher and Drama Coach, Jimmy Bowes was also very popular with the kids.

Summer field trips to Canobie Lake Park in Salem and Water Country in Portsmouth, NH as well as a trip to a Pawtucket Red Sox game in Pawtucket, RI were well attended.

To register for the fall and become a member of the club, stop by the Boys and Girls Club in Library Plaza or contact Kathleen Newcomb at the Boys and Girls Club (781) 834-2582. The annual membership fee is $50.

“It’s going to be another exciting year here at the club. We have a number of new activities and field trips in the works that are both entertaining and enriching for the kids,” noted Greg Jackson, the club’s Executive Director.
