Addressing the media, Dr. Korula said, "Infertility affects about 10-15% of the population and since it is not a life threatening issue, the public health facilities in this field are limited. The social stigma and psychological issues associated with infertility is something couples find difficult to bear. Recognizing the psychological and sociological implications of infertility and the emotional turmoil that patients undergo, counseling services are available here."
The experienced and qualified professionals at the Bangalore Baptist Hospital have a number of years of teaching and research experience, besides having published many research papers of note. The hospital follows strict guidelines as per the ICMR standards, a practice not seen in every commercial setup.
At Baptist Hospital the teaching faculty have "cochrane reviews" to their credit and provide comprehensive care and holistic approach to overall fertility management. The Government facilities in this regard are very limited. There is an independent ethical committee at Baptist hospital that will review complex cases and provide the best individual solutions. These facilities are not available even at teaching hospitals.
Unfortunately the Insurance sector does not cover this area and the expenses are quite high in this relatively new field. Hence, Baptist Hospital provides a wide range of options to couples from a wide cross section of the society and socio economic status.
