Bradford, United Kingdom (PressExposure) January 31, 2012 -- Barratts have been active in the shoe retail business a long time supplying footwear to families throughout Britian, over 65 years in fact, through the Barratts chain of stores and are pleased to be able to retail some of the premier brands in footwear with equally good heritage and prestige. Brands of shoes with equally unique histories like Kickers, Caterpillar and Hush Puppies are proud additions to the Barratts range of shoes, boots and footwear.
Kickers are the original jean boot, specially designed by the Frenchman Jacques Chevallereau to be worn with denim jeans. Nubuck leather was not widely used at the time and Jacques' choice of a natural rubber sole, contrast stitching and distinctive styling of a short boot to be worn with jeans was a true innovation in the world of footwear. During the height of their popularity during the Eighties, if you did not own a pair of genuine Kickers you were just not kicking it.
Hush Puppies will always be the shoes that quiet barking dogs. The story behind the origin of the Hush Puppies name is certainly anecdotal but did you know that they were very nearly going to be called Lasers? Would the shoes they produce ever have been as synomonous with comfort and practicality with a different name. Personally I find it difficult to associate anything else but the distinctive Bassett Hound as an ambassador for the Hush Puppies shoes brand. That dog just seems to exude and resonate the word comfort.
Caterpillar boots and shoes probably would not seem as tough if they had any other name. They are produced and manufactured under license by Wolverine Worldwide, the same company that produces Hush Puppies but would the Caterpillar brand of footwear still produce tough and durable work boots if they were not sporting the distinctive logo as seen on the recognisable yellow livery of powerful earth moving equipment.
Barratts Shoes are proud to be able to sell these brands to the public and be associated with such pioneers in the footwear industry. All three brands continue to be at the forefront of footwear technology and innovations in the shoes you wear long after they were first launched but all three brands also offer quality and value for money which are core values and central tenats of our philosophy at Barratts shoes as we strive to offer you the premier brands of footwear at reasonable prices in tough economic times.
