Atlanta, GA (PressExposure) February 09, 2007 -- Atlanta area church-leader Bishop Eddie Long will launch Latino services this month at the 25,000-member New Birth cathedral in Lithonia, Georgia.
Bishop Long recently announced the creation of New Birth Latino and its new pastor, Eddie Velez. Beginning January 28, Pastor Velez will begin Spanish-speaking services every Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
âAs our community continues to grow, itâs our job as the church to reach and impact lives of all color,â said Bishop Long who serves as senior pastor of the church. âI am excited about the new services and New Birth reaching out to our brothers and sisters in Christ.â
Pastor Velez, who formally served as the Senior Director of Youth Development at New Birth, is energized about the launch of the new service. âI thank God for the burden He has authored in the heart of our Bishop for the Latino people. This is not a new or separate church, simply New Birth experiencing a new birth to minister the gospel message to the Latino culture.â
Established in 1984, the New Birth Missionary Baptist church is located in Lithonia, a suburb of Atlanta. Under the guidance of Bishop Eddie Long, the church grew from 300 members to over 25,000 members today. The goal of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is to impact the community through outreach programs and community projects orchestrated by Bishop Long. Long also serves as the founder and CEO of Faith Academy, a Christian school operated by New Birth.
