Brooklyn, New York (PressExposure) September 26, 2011 -- Joan Benn has custom crafted ladies designer hats for over 30 years. She learned from her home town of Guyana, South America guided by her mother. As a way to say thank you to her mother for teaching her the trade, Joan named her business, Whileminia Hats, after her. After serving her local community for over 20 years, Joan decided to expand her business through the Internet. She is known for her ladies designer church hats and has expanded her lines to include matching designer bags, gloves, cosmetic jewelry, and wedding bridal wear.
She always had a love for fashion and a passion for creating original designs since the early 1970's. Joan decided to move her business online after too many customers asked for her website. Joan didn't know how to create a website and had no idea how to engage an online audience. She had so many questions, too few answers, and nobody to turn too. Joan said, ''Asking me about Google ranking is out of the question. The only rank I know about is the one stitched on my son's uniform in the Army." Then it hit her. Whenever her son is home, he's always texting, emailing, and updating Facebook from his phone. She goes on to say, "At first, I thought it was a bit silly and now I see it's a lot more than I expected. If I want to keep my business going, I've got to find new ways of reaching my customers."
Joan's son, Aggrey (Grey) Benn, has been actively engaged in helping his mother create an online presence since he returned from the military. The website has been up for over a month now and already has received thousands of hits. So far, the investment has paid off and Grey knows he has more work to do. Grey mentioned, "I thought it was a way to get some extra income, but now I see that I'm helping my mother's vision come true. I mean, what son wouldn't what to see his mother smile at him day after day knowing she is passing on something much bigger than a paycheck. She's passing down the family legacy and I want to make sure it's in good hands."
The virtual online store features custom handcrafted stylish ladies hats for all ages. Whether you want to be a diva, fashionista or just want to look your Sunday best, Whilemina Hats has something for everybody. If not, just call or email her and Joan will create it from your design. To celebrate the launch of the new website, they're offering 25% off a second purchase when you refer a friend until the end of the month. Joan has been so thankful for her son's help that she made him a partner in her business as the new Marketing Director. Although Joan says she will never be able to repay Grey for what he has done, she will continue to pray that her business succeeds and pour into her son's life as her mother did her.
