Atlanta First Hindi Feature Film "Mumbhai Connection" Selected at Prestigious Indian Film Festival

Mumbhai Connection, the first Hindi film to be set and shot in Atlanta, USA, is now an official selection at the prestigious 7th South Asian Film Festival in Goa, India. Mumbhai Connection is a dark comedy feature film about unemployment and recession and outsourcing. It is the story of Faisal, a struggling IT (Information Technology) salesman in Atlanta who finds himself working at a shady company that sells IT services to the Atlanta mafia and is run by the Mumbai mafia. When the recession hits and he finds his Atlanta mafia customers unwilling to buy, and his Mumbai mafia boss very unhappy with his results, he is forced to find entirely new services to sell. In short, he must go where no salesman has gone before. This movie is directed by Atlanta Nagendra.

Facets Presents a Social Event for Movie Lovers: "Film Scholars on Tap"

Movie lovers from all over Chicago will have the opportunity to enjoy a social evening of movie clips, cinematic insights, mingling, and munchies as part of "Reel Talk: Film Scholars on Tap." Admission to this FREE event will be first come, first served. A panel of four film scholars will be at Facets presenting briefly on a collection of cinematic topics - highly controversial films banned in Iran, early female director Ida Lupino, the heist as a narrative trope, and the greatest dance partnership in movie history - illustrating their observations with film clips screened in Facets Cinémathèque's intimate 125-seat theater. A reception will follow the event, providing the opportunity for lively and informal discussion among attendees and panelists. Beer, wine, and snacks will be provided.

Movie Lovers Unite at Facets Film School Starting July 16

Facets Film School classes are an integral part of Facets' mission to make the best in classic, world, and independent cinema accessible to all. Facets Film School provides a forum for discussion among film lovers, emerging mediamakers, and film veterans, encouraging an appreciation for movies as an art form and means of communication, and allowing for an exploration of various film genres, techniques, filmmakers, actors, and more. Led by local professors and other film experts, Film School courses run one evening per week for six weeks. Each three-hour class session includes a film screening in our intimate small theater, along with time for lecture and discussion. Film School courses are designed to be accessible to students of all levels, with or without any prior background in film studies.

13th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival to Showcase Exclusive Screenings of Latino Cinema

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012 the Newport Beach Film Festival will present its 13th annual Latino Showcase, an evening celebration of Latino cinema and culture. The event will feature premiere screenings of Latino films, followed by a festive post screening gala.
