Noida, India (PressExposure) October 31, 2012 -- The Day 15 of CAT 2012 was conducted on October 30. Till now, 1,26,187 candidates have taken the test. There was hardly any big surprise on Day 15 and it was observed that the exam was on the similar line as the past few days. The quantitative ability & data interpretation section was the tougher among the two sections.
Gautam Puri, vice-chairman, Career Launcher, said, "The exam today was quite normal sans any surprise. Unlike October 29, which was pretty tough, today's exam was moderately tough. The quantitative ability & data interpretation was tougher among the two. The logical reasoning sets were extremely easy. The RC passages were a bit lengthy."
Kamalpreet Singh, a test taker from Noida, said: "I found the Quant section very difficult but the verbal ability & logical reasoning section was easy. The Quant area saw a majority of questions from geometry and algebra (5-6 questions each). They were also tricky in nature. DI was calculation intensive but doable."
Passages in the verbal ability area were a bit lengthy and questions were indirect. According to Karan Saikripa, a CAT taker from Delhi, this section was moderate but QA & DI was difficult."
The topic-wise distribution of the sections is as follows:
Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
Most of the questions in this section were from geometry (five), followed by algebra (four), trigonometry (three) and arithmetic (three). The data interpretation sets were tough and calculation intensive.
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning
The verbal section had the majority of questions from para jumbles (four) and sentence correction (four). Reading Comprehension passages were not tough but one of them was lengthy. LR questions were very easy.
CAT 2012 has started from October 11 and will end on November 6.
