Cabalete, Dominican Republic (PressExposure) August 28, 2010 -- As a sport Windsurfing became popular in the early 70's and from then on it has steadily gained popularity so much so that it features in one in every three commercials. The sport has never looked behind since then and Windsurfing spots are becoming hot tourist spots for windsurfing vacation among all water sports lovers. There are many places on this Earth which have pleasant climate all year round with good wind conditions which make it an ideal spot for windsurfing.
One such Eden for wind surfers is the Cabarete islands in the Dominican Republic, an island which is blessed with strong winds all year round and is also the venue for the Windsurf Cabarete Classic tournament. There are many clubs in the island of Cabarete and each one of it has its own unique selling point and one can choose any for a windsurfing vacation.
Club Nathalie Simon in Cabarete which was refurbished in 2009 when the interest in kite surfing was rising and more and more people were getting infected by the sport. The club is located in the middle of Cabarete bay on the northwest coast of the Dominican Republic. This is an absolutely new concept of wind and kite surf club where you get the latest equipment and surfing lessons from professionals who have behind them many years of experience in surfing.
Cabarete Island in the Dominican Republic is also the place where many competitions are held which gives the chance for every surfer to test his skills with the best surfers of the world. The 2010 Cabarete Classic took place from July 14th - 18th and 50 competitors representing 8 nations took part in the event. The competition included 2 days of slalom racing followed by a day of freestyle and a long distance race on the last day.
Another event which attracts a lot of tourists and intimately involves Club Nathalie Simon in Cabarete is the Amber Dune Butterfly Effect Cabarete 2010! This was held on 7th August 2010. The event is non competitive and is used to promote women to try their hand at windsurf, kite surf, stand up paddle or kayak. There was a raffle and a silent auction for money for both the event and The DREAM Project!
