San Diego, CA (PressExposure) October 19, 2011 -- As seen in the acclaimed documentary, 'God Grew Tired of Us', upon arriving to the United States and not knowing when they were born, the Lost Boys of Southern Sudan were all given a birth date of January 1 st by immigration officials. To honor the Lost Boys, an annual birthday party fundraiser is held each year. The next annual birthday party to be held January 7, 2012 from 11:00am to 4:00pm will focus on funding The Lost Boys Community Center and Educational Scholarships. In an effort to fund this endeavor, the California Sudanese Lost Boys Foundation is seeking monetary sponsorships, silent auction donations and opportunity drawing prizes. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

About The California Sudanese Lost Boys and Girls Foundation There are approximately 100 of these young men currently residing in San Diego. Although they surmounted unbelievable challenges before arriving in this country, they have managed to find housing, sometimes two or three to a room, and take advantage of educational opportunities, many working two jobs to pay tuition expenses. Although it has been difficult, the boys are diligently trying to assimilate into American culture. The organizing committee is solely made up of volunteer help and 100% of the proceeds will be used to benefit the Lost Boys. The California Sudanese Lost Boys and Girls Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 with the taxpayer identification number of 272614407 and provides mentorship programs, scholarship application workshops and job placement assistance to their members.
