Plymouth, England United Kingdom (PressExposure) May 22, 2012 -- Scientists think they have found a cure for ageing, something nobody thought could be achieved. Researchers have discovered a drug that can help DNA that has been damaged by the passing of time to repair itself. Managing Director of Cascade has commented on this, saying "If new ways are found to extend physical and mental health for the aging population, the benefits to society will be enormous." They hope that it can be used to treat ¬conditions more common in later life such as dementia, arthritis, ¬osteoarthritis, cancer and heart disease. And experts are ¬positive that the drug, called N-acetyl cystein, can beat wasting diseases and stop premature ageing in children. A source from Cascade, a marketing company in Plymouth that is expanding and is always focused on developing has spoken about their opinions, saying "Wow, what a breakthrough - This could potentially change the entire world, very exciting."
Researchers at Durham University looked at inherited degenerative disorders that are caused by mutations in the LMNA gene. The most severe include Hutchinson Gilford progeria syndrome that makes children age 8 times as fast as normal and die around 13 years old. Chief researcher Professor Chris Hutchison said: "Mutations in LMNA cause more diseases, such as muscular dystrophy, than any other.
"We've found that DNA damage can be controlled and our findings could be an important step to helping both children with progeria and older people to live lives that are less debilitating in terms of health problems. We will look at patients with progeria to see if there's a model that can be used for wider medicine." The managing Director of Cascade, has commented, saying "Extremely promising! It's great to see the developing world of medicine, this is huge!"
