Oxford, United Kingdom (PressExposure) July 31, 2012 -- Chien Noir Films Ltd is proud to announce the signing of a Co-Production Agreement with Trebuchet Film Productions for their upcoming short movie, Dad, a drama starring James Parsons and introducing Ryan Murphy, and directed by Alan Campbell.
From new Indie writer/filmmaker Sean Langton comes Dad, a film about the story of Ryan, a man tormented by a past of sexual abuse. The hardest thing for Ryan to come to terms with is the abuse, both sexual and physical, at the hands of his father.
Finding the courage to face the man who ruined his life and reconnect with his estranged family, Ryan finds himself with one more hurdle to climb. His dad died over six months ago.
This is an emotional journey seen through the eyes of one man at his father's grave as he comes to terms with his own sexual and violent abuse and the loss of a parent.
"Dad fits in perfectly with the philosophy of why I created Chien Noir Films. It is a touching story that examines the difficultly of forgiveness by a victim of childhood sexual and physical abuse. When I first read the script if brought a sense of loss over me which I cannot describe and I knew straight away I wanted to work with Sean and his team on the project." ~ Brandon Smith, Executive Producer, Chien Noir Films Ltd.
"I think the story is a very powerful one and not afraid to pull any punches or baby the audience. It's very different from most short films I've read over the last few years there are no guns or gangs. It touches on things that have happened to many people at some point in their life.." ~ Alan Campbell
"Dad is a film that doesn't hide from the truth; it tackles a dark subject head on. Some will not agree with its sentiments, others will understand....but if it gets people talking and questioning their perceptions then it has done its job." ~ Sean Langton, Writer/Producer
"What attracted me to the project was the script which handles a controversial and difficult subject in a sensitive manner. I believe we have a great team behind us on the project and I can't wait to see what they produce." ~ Andy Carslaw, Producer and Editor.
Dad will commence principal photography in August, 2012. Release Summer 2013.
