1. About the speaker Having faced the China Intellectual Property (IP) and Quality Control monsters early on in his career, Mike Bellamy decided to do something about it by developing the PassageMaker "Black Box Quality Gate" system to extract the best pricing in China and protect IP without compromising quality and service. He is also a board member of China Quality Focus as CQF shares his commitment to Quality control and transparency.
Before organizing PassageMaker, Mike worked with The Brock Group, an international trade and investment consulting firm managed by President Reagan's former US Trade Representative and US Senator Bill Brock in Washington DC. Mike moved to Asia in 1994 and has structured sourcing investments in over 200 production classifications for US and European clients during his time in China. He received his double degrees in Diplomacy and Economics in Washington DC and later went on to gain an International MBA from the University of South Carolina which included a year of full-time graduate level courses at the Harbin Institute of Technology and University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
Recognized as expert on China sourcing, Mike has been a featured presenter for a number of high profile seminars and trade shows including Global Sources' China Sourcing Fairs in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Dubai, Boat Tech China, Rotary Foundation, US Chamber of Commerce, British Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Purchasing Managers/ Institute for Supply Management, Small Business Development Bureau and the State Bar of California among others.
2. About China Quality Focus China Quality Focus (CQF) is a Western owned and managed company providing quality control & quality assurance services all over China. They are specialized in quality inspections, factory audits and product certifications and their services start at Euros 188 all inclusive for product inspections and factory assessments. Their clients are importers and retailers from all over the world, but also trading companies, agents and manufacturers based in China. The CQF team is composed of Western and Chinese quality experts, combining local cultural roots and Western background and business practices. Their operations network covers the whole China and they are now expanding into greater Asia: Taiwan, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam. Moreover, their quality control expertise covers a wide range of products and they are able to help and support clients from various industries.
3. About PassageMaker Think of PassageMaker as your "black box" and "quality gate" in China. Simply put, products are delivered to their China facility from your approved sub suppliers and then final assembly, inspection & packaging takes place under their roof. As the sub suppliers don't see the finished product, their ability to steal ideas and designs is limited. While final assembly is taking place at PassageMaker, PM can also inspect the goods to confirm quality.
Maximum savings are achieved because each item on the Bill of Material (BOM) can be quoted at a national level from vendors across China. (Visit their Sourcing Feasibility Study section for more information on this system for identifying vendors and gathering quotations.) Because the labor and material costs of final assembly/inspection/packaging are roughly the same if performed by PassageMaker vs. handled by your sub supplier, there are no major additional costs to client for engaging PassageMaker, yet the benefits of as the "black box" and "quality gate" are numerous.
4. About the Trade Show China Sourcing Fair, organized by Global Sources is the world's leading specialized event for sourcing consumer products from competitive suppliers from Greater China. Between January 10th to January 13th 2010, three China Sourcing fairs will be jointly held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, allowing you to source more products and suppliers at the same time: The baby and children products.
