Poisonâs his gift for the lover he misses but his story has faded away in the distance â These are the Chronicles of Solomon Quick
The Lucky Strikes are a blues/Americana four piece delivering tales of outlaws, desperadoes and chain gangs in 1930s Mississippi. Their second record, the Chronicles of Solomon Quick tells the fictional story of the man responsible for the death of singer and guitarist Robert Johnson. The sprawling 12 songs blur reality and fiction, sanity and madness and morality versus infamy.
While Johnsonâs murder is the essential backdrop for the album, the seedy lives of a wide range of fictional characters are the focus. Fusing widescreen Americana, garage blues and bar room rock and roll, the record is currently being developed as a novel and screenplay. The intended result has more in common with a Nelson Algren novel than a standard rock album.
Tom Keeganâs strong but emotional interpretation is breathtaking and the album goes from strength to strength. Its highlight is the song âSecond Act (Funeral)â a progressive track showing the band ability to deliver pure power rock hits.
The Album received a warm welcome from its peer as well as excellent reviews and coverage from leading French Magazine âRock and Folkâ; UK Magazines â3AMâ, âRock ânâ Reel. The most pleasing of all is the Review from Americana UK

âPart Black Keys and part 'Exile' era Stones â at their loudest. The just released, self titled debut captures the essence of the band's high octane live shows and features nine songs fusing blues, punk and garage rockâ. â 3AM Magazine
âLoud, raw and shockingly abrasive, the Lucky Strikes are very much a band to watchâ â Rock ânâ Reel Jan 2009
