Kalgoorlie, WA Australia (PressExposure) September 17, 2011 -- Snort Pump has earned a niche in executing complex engineering projects, often deploying special customized submersible pumps. It is a 100% subsidiary of Kalgoorlie-based Prestige Universal Mining Pumps (PUMP) and also has a branch office at Townsville, Queensland.
Snort Pump makes use of systemic thinking and business scorecard while carrying out each of its projects. According to a handout offered to attendees at the press conference organized at Townsville today, implementation of such management ideas has cut down up to 70% of cost of many of its projects executed by it for its clients. According to a senior pumping engineer at Snort present during the press conference, such cost reductions percolate because of vivid interrelated reasons.
William Alison, a management expert at Townsville, Western Australia, opined that claims of operational efficiency by Snort are a real possibility if virtues behind the concept of systemic thinking, balanced scorecard along with other management endeavors implemented religiously. Last month, Snort Pump said that it had already assimilated an advanced OR software into its domain.
Alison explained that systemic thinking approaches an organization as one entity and vivid parts are seen to achieve the well being of that one entity. For an engineering project, this means one needs to relate different activities pertaining to hiring, operations, and administration keeping in mind their final impact on the project from a long-term point of view. Business scorecard is increasingly used by Fortune 1000 companies as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Pioneered by Dr. Robert S. Kaplan and Dr. David P. Norton in the early 1990s, the business scorecard builds on four broad parameters: financial, customer, business process and learning and growth. These four parameters are also interconnected for the well being of the business entity. It is a method that enables an organization to clarify its vision and strategy and translate them into action. According to Alison, the strength of business scorecard is its forward-looking approach: business scorecard also incorporates constant feedbacks to improve results.
It is good to see that management concepts like systemic thinking and business scorecard are implemented religiously in Western Australia by Snort Pump. It is important that other business houses too should think of incorporating such management ideas into their domain for the long-term interest of the Australian community.
