Connecticut Missionaries in King Arthurs Court

Whitter, CA (PressExposure) February 15, 2012 -- A brave group of missionaries from Southern California will be hitting the streets of London during the Summer 2012 Olympics to evangelize the great city once known for sending out it's own great missionaries to the world. The group whose home church is Calvary Chapel in Downey Ca. are currently trying to raise funds for the trip. Airfare for the event will account for 1/2 of all expenses because of the rise in ticket prices due to the popularity of the Olympics making this outreach double what would the group would normally have to raise.

If all goes as planned along side street evangelism, music outreaches are on the agenda hopefully drawing the locals into churches in the area that are participating in the event."This outreach is a long time coming" Jim Beeson, the teams co-leader and graphic designer/webmaster/worship leader says. "I was approached early last year by the team leader who has been on several missions trips himself. I've always been an anglophile" Jim adds. "When I was growing up all my favorite bands we're English/British/Australian". "Going to England has always been a dream of mine"

Jim has a background in film/video editing so he will be documenting the whole process as well as the trip itself."It's a lot to get done in a short time" Jim says. "The website, logo design, t-shirt design, flyers and dealing with all the little stuff takes a lot more effort than you might think". "Once we've got the churches in London on board and confirmed we'll have to start making flyers and posters and t-shirts for those events as well" "It's like running a business but our business is promoting the word of God to the world"

Jim says the work can be overwhelming at times but he adds that if he and the team are to be successful a divine element has to do all the heavy lifting. "There's a scripture that says 'my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory in Christ Jesus so we are taking steps of faith and remembering that if we're supposed to go then all the proper doors will open...if not then they won't"

The team will be leaving July 25th and returning August 13th.

"Our church is a great body of believers..." Jim quips "We are a large congregation but we are very close to one another at the same time" "Our church started with 12 people in a park in the early 70s and now we have thousands of people in our body" "We plant churches all over the world and have large outreaches to our community every season" Jim says.
