Presents - Home Remodeling Boot Camp For Homeowners

San Diegp, CA (PressExposure) April 14, 2009 -- The Home Remodeling Boot Camp, an online membership site created by Jody Costello, founder of, is designed to teach consumers to be their own best advocate and in control of their project by engaging them in doing the necessary homework, giving them the tools and information to help them choose their contractor wisely and mitigate the most common problems encountered when hiring and working with contractors.

The Boot Camp, comprised of 13 “Core Lessons”, are the fundamental basics of what consumers need to know before they embark on a renovation or building project. At the end of each lesson are “Accountability Assignments” that requires additional work on the part of the homeowner to ensure they have clarity about their state’s laws, legal rights and how to better protect themselves from a remodeling nightmare.

“As an advocate for consumers over the last nine years, clearly it’s the lack of knowledge and due diligence on the part of the homeowner to educate themselves on the risks and realities in renovating and building their home” relates Costello. Homeowners don’t know, what they don’t know.”

Rather than simply reading information, the Bootcamp engages the homeowner to perform specific tasks, researching their options with downloads, sample forms and links to informative sites. Forums will be available so consumers can connect with others and share ideas.

“The Boot Camp is really a course in Risk Management”, states Costello. “When you have the knowledge to make informed decisions and to respond to the unexpected, that’s when you’re empowered and in control rather than at the mercy of your contractor.”
