In a CEO World Forum, organized by GEM Connect, executives gathered in Dubai recently to roll up their sleeves and share strategic ideas to face the onslaught of mixed market news.
Company leaders from the US, EU and Middle east were on hand for the two-day forum held at the prestigious Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
Ideas were presented in new breakthroughs in SEO marketing, Branding, Advertising and Leadership.
One of the featured speakers, Michael J. Tolan, CEO of World Class Group, called on the delegates to lead with courage in the stormy waters of the market uncertainty. His presentation, Catch the Sky, used the sky is falling as a metaphor to describe the mass hysteria of doom and gloom. Companies that cut their marketing budgets today, are akin to a railroad train company deciding to fire the one employee that shovels the coal, when he is gone, like marketing budgets, the entire vehicle comes to standstill. âNow is the time to gain market share by boldly establishing leadership and confidence by seeking stronger alliances, consolidation, but at the same time a message to consumers that your ship is not only weathering the storm, but winning the race.â said Tolan.
He pointed out the severe lay offs in a cross section of industries, citing the real estate market as hardest hit. He said that the buying frenzy in Dubai has stopped overnight, but companies that invest in training and strategic marketing now, will explore new channels and opportunities. New platforms of shared ownership could now win buyers into the market, as well as properly structured REITâs.
âLeaders that buy into the fear based psychosis, or mass distraction, play the wait and see attitude are actually contributing to their own lack of progress, no one wants to be on- board with a nervous captain at sea, in the air or in any company.â âLeadership requires courage more than ever before.â he added.
