Amstelveen, Netherlands (PressExposure) December 24, 2009 -- Devista released Teamwork Planner, its Gantt chart planning tool for Windows XP/Vista/7. Teamwork Planner targets project managers of teams of two to 12 people, and replaces the spreadsheets that many project managers use to do their planning.
Many Gantt chart tools just help you drawing a chart. Others are stuffed with features to make them beat MS Project. But that makes them complex to use for smaller teams. Teamwork Planner keeps it simple but still goes beyond just drawing a chart.
Teamwork Planner is different from its competitors. The team members' available hours are continuously distributed over the assigned tasks in the order in which they are defined. Changing their order changes their priority. In this way you can quickly go through different scenarios until it fits everybody's expectations. This concept really fits the basic idea of Gantt charts.
Teamwork Planner shows the hours assigned per person per day inside the Gantt chart bars. Compared to the typical gray bars this almost suggests a spreadsheet although still behaving as a dedicated Gantt chart tool. It gives a clear insight into the actual numbers, while going through possible scenarios. It also makes it easier for project members to interpret assignments and priorities. Each project member is assigned their own color in the chart, making it simple to see their workload.
The print function has a preview and a clever way of printing on multiple pages.
Teamwork Planner costs US$29.95 and is available from Devista, Max Havelaarlaan 315, 1183 LT Amstelveen, The Netherlands. A 30-day evaluation version can be downloaded from http://www.teamwork-planner.com.
