D of E Strengthens Ties With Partners - Trimega Head Speaks at Event

London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) June 08, 2010 -- It can be a surprise to some to learn that drug testing can be conducted on young people. With the problem of growing drug use affecting youth, it becomes more important than ever to monitor any such activities and ensure that they are not getting involved in any risky and dangerous behavior, or indulging in illegal drugs that have serious ramifications on their health and their lives. According to statistics obtained by the NHS Information Center, young people are experimenting more with alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, with cannabis use 8 percent in the North East to 12 percent in the North West of England.

This makes it more important than ever to ensure that the youth are making the right choices in life, and plumbing their true potential. The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award was founded in 1956 to provide young people with positive outlets and engaging activities that will transform them into helpful members of society, and in 2009 alone, more than 275,000 people have been taking part in its programs. The DofE also operates worldwide, with the participation of six million young people from 123 countries.

On the 30th March, Trimega Laboratories reaffirmed its commitment to the DofE's vision at an event at the Buckingham Palace. The event, dubbed "Celebration of Partnerships" and attended by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh himself, aimed to engage with and strengthen the DofE's partnership with its local partners, of which Trimega is one. Avi Lasarow, managing director, spoke at the event and expressed approval for DofE's stellar work in improving young people's lives and capabilities.

It was also during this event when new research was presented detailing the DofE's impact on young people as well as its progress in meeting the Local Government's objectives. In turn, Peter Westgarth, the CEO of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, expressed appreciation for Trimega's work as well as for its support to the charity.

Other attendees include Maggie Atkinson, the Directors of Children's Services from Local Authorities across the country, and Children's Commissioner and Professor Andrew Pithouse, the Director of Social Work Studies at Cardiff University in Wales, who also addressed the guests at the event.

Trimega Laboratories has been an ardent supporter of the charity due to its dedication to transform and improve communities all over the country. Though working in different fields, both are engaged in work that builds up young people's potential and improves their welfare.
