London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) December 17, 2009 -- The next audition dates for the Foundation Degree in Dance - a partnership between City and Islington College, IRIE! dance theatre and London Metropolitan University - are Friday 15 January, Friday 05 February and Friday 05 March at 10:00am.
The Dance Foundation Degree was launched in September 2007 and is the first of its kind in the UK that incorporates the study of African and Caribbean dance techniques in addition to ballet and contemporary dance techniques.
The Dance Foundation Degree is designed to allow dance students to:
~ Get professional input from established dance theatre professionals, ~ Access fantastic industry links through work placements in performance, education and community dance, ~ Learn about employment opportunities for artists, ~ Progress directly onto the honours year at London Metropolitan University, ~ Be nurtured by a team completely committed to the students' success, ~ Immerse themselves in a rich and diverse arts environment, and ~ Experience great teaching and facilities.
Beverley Glean, the Artistic Director of IRIE! dance theatre recently expressed her pleasure regarding the level of interest shown in the program.
"We are really pleased at the manner in which this Dance Foundation Degree has been embraced. We already have individuals contacting us regarding audition dates for next year and so we looking forward to the prospect of potentially having even more students on the program."
The course is taught in part at IRIE!'s base, the Moonshot Centre in New Cross, and at City and Islington College in Camden. The auditions will take place at the Moonshot Centre.
