Demand For Caravan Transport Up As Sales Increase

Knutsford, Cheshire United Kingdom (PressExposure) March 04, 2011 -- According to figures released by the leading caravan manufacturers and transporters, 2010 saw a resurgence in both new and second hand caravan sales.

The Explorer Group, who builds the Elddis and Buccaneer ranges of touring caravans, posted pre-tax profits of £3million in 2010, following a 40% rise in sales from £35 million in 2009 to a healthy £49 million in 2010.

Baileys, currently one of the largest caravan companies in the country today, showed a 27% increase in turnover last year, reaching £95 million. This marks a return to pre-recession levels for the Bristol-based caravan builder.

Meanwhile The Swift Leisure Group who constructs, amongst others, the classic Sprite range of caravans, has had an excellent start to the 2011 caravanning and camping season with £2.5millon taken in orders at January's Manchester Caravan Show alone. Sales at the Scottish Caravan and Mobile Home show in early February were double those of last year.

Sales of pre-owned caravans are also increasing. In the past 12 months Salop Leisure, a caravan servicing a repair specialist has more than doubled its workforce, seen the number of workshop bays increase from five to 12 and work seven days a week to meet demand from owners wanting to get their caravans ready for transporting.

With the increase in sales of both new and pre-owned caravans, demand on caravan delivery services has also seen a growth in 2010. Dan Parry, director of transport services website Deliver Quote Compare commented: "Caravan transport is a highly specialist area and our caravan delivery partners are all rated companies who are experts in this area. We have seen demand for delivering static and touring caravans go up by 50% in 2010 compared to the year before."

It is not just caravan transporters and retailers who are benefiting from a surge in demand. Haven Holidays has registered a 21% increase in caravan holidays for the first quarter of 2011. Industry experts believe the renewed interest in camping and caravanning is fuelled by the strong Euro putting people off foreign holidays and leading them to invest in caravans or book mobile home holidays in the UK.

About Delivery Quote Compare

About http://www.deliveryquotecompare.com:

Deliveryquotecompare.com was set up to provide transport companies with an opening to make quotes and win delivery work from customers who need goods delivering to national, European and international destinations.

All types of delivery companies are registered with the site, from static home and caravan transport service to specialist air freight forwarders. All types of goods are quoted for and handled, from eBay seller deliveries and whole house removal jobs to boat deliveries and furniture shipments throughout the UK, in Europe and beyond.

Customers with goods that need to be delivered simply register and post the job details on the Delivery Quote Compare website and the details are then sent on to relevant transport companies who can provide the service required. The companies then look at the details and work out a bespoke price for that delivery job.

The customer then receives email alerts to let them know quotes are coming in. If the 'auction format' is chosen, the transport companies can see all quotes being posted and how competitive they need to be to win the job.

For customers using Delivery Quote Compare, the service is completely free.
