Philadelphia, PA (PressExposure) December 27, 2011 -- Philadelphia area residents are invited to recycle their gently worn shoes at three locations throughout the area on Saturday, Jan. 14th from 10 AM - 2 PM. This is part of a nationwide effort by the National Association of Professional Organizers who have partnered with Soles4Souls in a challenge for each local chapter to collect the most shoes.
It should be a fun day for a serious cause. Soles4Souls collects new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collects used shoes to support micro-enterprise efforts to eradicate poverty. They are delivered domestically as well as to third world countries.
Members of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter (NAPO-GPC) have been collecting these shoes since July and have been neatly storing them in storage lockers donated by CubeSmart, a national self-storage provider and NAPO Corporate Partner (www.cubesmart.com). They currently have over 4,000 pairs of shoes!
The event on January 14th is the final collection day. Professional Organizers will be on location and ready to help you unload your bags or boxes of shoes. They will also be offering free 15 minute consultations to anyone who wants to discuss their organizing challenges. Several of these NAPO-GPC organizers have appeared on such shows as Mission Organization and more recently A&E's Hoarders. One of our own organizers is #3 in the country for the most shoes collected. The winner will actually travel to Haiti to deliver shoes with Soles4Souls.
The collection sites are:
- CubeSmart 501 Callowhill St., Philadelphia, PA 19123
- CubeSmart 1820 Frontage Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034
- United Storage 6 Tabas Lane, Exton, PA 19341
