Pretoria, South Africa (PressExposure) July 26, 2008 -- Until recently, my only experience of camping was a couple of exciting hours in the back garden, in the little brown canvas tent my brother got for Christmas one year, waybackwhen. My spirit of adventure was soon obliterated by a six year old's relationship with the onset of darkness outside of the comforts of a familiar, known environment and my inconsolable crying meant a disgusted 9 year old brother leading me back across the lawn to the welcoming familiarity of electric lights and my snug, indoor bed. However, my recent discovery of the amazing world of âunder the seaâ and scuba diving, necessitated my reintroduction to the world of camping and my only regret is that it took me so long to discover the delights!
Let me start with the obvious â cost. In the last 18 months I have probably seen more of our spectacular country than I'd seen in all my years before that. I have been to some of the most beautiful places imaginable, places I would never have had the privilege of seeing had we not had the affordable option of camping.
fortune of prime position. I suppose that the low environmental impact of campsites as opposed to developed land allows for positioning in places that bring you face to face, quite literally, with unspoiled nature in all of her splendour.
