The holiday home was custom-designed for a London-based family with the main purpose of allowing them to escape urban life, providing a calm and relaxing retreat that capitalised on the unique location of the hillside overlooking the rugged Cornish coastline.
Whilst extensive framed views of the coastline were required, vertical slatted timber installed over part of the glazing reduced any light pollution to the immediate surroundings. The cedar cladding wrapped over the entire building externally, whilst the open-plan living space mezzanine was enveloped in birch wood.
The finishing touch of a log burning stove was designed to help the family enjoy a cosy, cabin-like atmosphere in colder months.
