EduKick Madrid Football Academy Celebrates Player of the Month

Madrid, Spain (PressExposure) December 16, 2009 -- For two months now, the boys at EduKick Madrid's international football academy have been hard at work, and they have made significant progress in both football and Spanish. But one EduKick player has showed special talent and work ethic.

EduKick Madrid football academy has named Gerardo Diaz Loyola "Player of the Month," awarding him a ticket to the Spain-Argentina match in the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

"Gerardo earned this award for his impressive attitude in school, training, and the residence, on the football academy team, and for his excellent overall behavior," said Nacho Mallo, director of EduKick Madrid.

"Our trainer, Sergio León, is appreciated by every kid," said Mallo. "He is doing a great job teaching individual skills and helping each child to adjust their game and improve the way they play and behave inside and outside the football field."

The boys play in a local team, and each week, they have the chance to make it into the starting 11 players. With well more than 11 players competing for the starting positions, it can be a struggle to make it into the initial football academy team. However, Mallo says that the commitment and daily training will ensure that the kids make it in the long run.

It is not all football training, though. The boys have gotten to see pro players in action by attending a Real Madrid game at Copa del Rey, and they've had the opportunity to visit El Valle de los Caidos, the monument honoring all those killed during the Spanish civil war, and el Monasterio de El Escorial, the work of King Felipe II.

"Cultural excursions are just as much a part of the EduKick football academy experience as daily football training and matches," said Mallo.

Of course, language immersion is also part of the football academy curriculum. The boys have to attend school and take daily Spanish classes.

"Their adaptation to the classes has been excellent and all the teachers in school are very happy with their work," said Mallo.

"We are extremely happy with the group that we have here at EduKick Madrid. We just want to encourage all the boys to keep working as hard as they are doing and to keep on enjoying the program."
