Enhanced Christmas Sales Bring Euphoria

Watford, United Kingdom (PressExposure) January 13, 2010 -- Good news can come from anywhere, anytime. What is more thrilling is that it has come in the wake of Christmas celebrations. The British Retail Consortium has come up with a great piece of news stating that there has been a considerable improvement in the sales on the eve of Christmas.

According to the BRC the consumer confidence is improving despite of the fact that the UK economy is believed to be reeling under acute financial distress. As the month of December witnessed enhanced sales, there is joy all around. One of the main reasons of this overwhelming response from the market is the fact that the UK economy was reeling under recessionary phase, which seems to be over as of now.

As we know that the sales have grown to 4.2% by value during the month of December, it has raised enough confidence in the general masses as well as the authorities. This has also resulted in increased consumer confidence levels in the wake of Christmas.

What is more interesting is that the BRC director general Stephen Robertson said that the performance is much beyond the expectations. This has further raised the levels of confidence as far as the UK market is concerned.

One of the major factors taken into account, as far as increased sales are concerned, is the improving health of the UK economy. Now that is something, which is providing respite, especially during the troubled economic phase.

The current figures of December 2009 are far better than December 2008. One of the other factors that has resulted in increased sales is the fact that the UK witnessed freezing weather this year. It resulted in boosting demand for winter warmers and also lead to increased sales of clothes.

However, amidst all the jubilations, BRC director Stephen Robertson has also warned that the increased sales could be the result of acute cold weather conditions. Therefore, it is saner to take the current trends, indicating enhanced sales, from cautionary point of view as well.

Along with enhanced sales in clothing on the eve of Christmas, the food sector also witnessed marginal increase. Response from the electrical sector is also good as the UK economy is witnessing a steady growth from it.
