Dubai, India (PressExposure) August 06, 2013 -- Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Light Middle East, has announced the launch of the first-ever Light Middle East Awards designed to recognise and celebrate excellence in lighting and design.
The Awards, will be held alongside Light Middle East 2013, the Middle East's foremost trade fair and conference for lighting design and technology, being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in early October.
Being held with the support of the Emirates Society of Engineers, the Light Middle East Awards will cover a range of different categories, emphasising the importance of innovative design in various applications.
The award categories are:
- Innovative lighting project of the year
- Sustainable lighting project of the year
- Lighting for Public Building
- Residential Lighting project of the year
- Interior Lighting for a hotel project
- Exterior Lighting for a hotel project
- Retail Lighting project of the year
Nominated projects in the various categories will be shortlisted and evaluated by a jury of select lighting design experts with the final results being announced at the awards ceremony itself. The Awards will culminate in a glittering gathering of leading lighting designers, industry luminaries and select guests and will probably be the biggest industry gathering of its kind in the region.

"The Light Middle East Awards are intended to not just reward and appreciate outstanding examples of lighting design in the region, but to also encourage and channel budding design talent from the Middle East in the right direction. Light Middle East, with its industry-wide reach, is an ideal vehicle to propagate excellence in design," he added.

To be eligible for the award, the nominated projects should have been completed between March 1st, 2012 and May 31st, 2013. Nominations can be made online at [http://www.lightme.net/lightme-awards/nomination-1.aspx] up until August 30th, 2013.
Light Middle East 2013 is expected to attract strong interest from the regional lighting and design fraternity. The exhibition will highlight the latest in innovative products and design with an emphasis on energy efficient products and sustainable lighting solutions.
Light Middle East 2013 will also feature Light Insight Arabia - a comprehensive programme of conferences and workshops. Highly acclaimed by lighting industry professionals, designers and consultants, the interactive forums, instructional workshops and seminars will throw fresh light on key industry issues and trends.
