Epoc Messe Frankfurt Exhibitions Reflect Drive For Sustainable Development Solutions

Dubai, India (PressExposure) November 03, 2010 -- Sustainable development, innovative ideas and the role of new technology in driving ecologically-friendly solutions to current day issues were the theme of the two Epoc Messe Frankfurt exhibitions, which concluded at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre today (Tuesday, November 2, 2010).

Garden+Landscaping Middle East 2010, the region's foremost trade event for the garden, landscaping and outdoor living industries, saw increased interest from trade visitors, developers, architects and local authorities in the use of organic fertilisers and pesticides, ways to reduce water and resource usage and increased use of local plant species and materials in landscaping.

Light Middle East turned the spotlight on the huge potential for energy savings and reduction of emissions achievable by adopting energy-efficient lighting systems in public and private spaces. Replacement of older technology lighting systems with current lighting solutions was stressed as a major source of energy and resource savings for local authorities in the region.

"With the growing realisation of the need to prioritise energy and resource saving solutions to enable true sustainable development, we are happy that our exhibitions have played a constructive role in bringing this to the forefront," said Mr. Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of organisers Epoc Messe Frankfurt GmbH. "Thanks to the vital co-operation of the local authorities and the representative nature of our trade events, we can be an integral part of driving the transformation to ecologically-friendly development in the region," he added.

Among those presenting new products at Garden+Landscaping Middle East were Mirak Irrigation and Landscaping. The company displayed a variety of grass and plants for landscaping suitable for use in the Middle East.

"The show was very successful for us with over 100 people from Iran and the Gulf countries visiting our stand on the first day itself," said Hassan Ahmadi, Nursery Manager for Mirak.

Light Middle East saw a series of new launches and revolutionary lighting solutions. Among these were LED lighting technology from US-based, Ruud Lighting which has developed and manufac-tured a range of products through various channels for commercial and industrial lighting applica-tions.

At Light ME, Ruud Lighting Arabia promoted BetaLED, the LED range launched to harness the latest technology for general illumination.

"The potential of LED and other sustainable technologies in the GCC countries is unlimited and growing every year at 30 to 50 per cent and Abu Dhabi, with its Masdar project is at the forefront of sustainability," said Mr. Alan Ruud, Chairman of Ruud Lighting. "In the Middle East, the GCC is the biggest in adopting new technology in lighting solutions and the UAE is a leading player. Next year, we are making a bid for the largest market in the GCC which is Saudi Arabia," he said. "We are very happy with exhibition organisers Epoc Messe Frankfurt and we will make sure that we work with them to keep Light Middle East at the forefront of what is happening in this new tech-nology."

Another big attraction was the three days of conferences, seminars and workshops that addressed the vital issues facing the industry. The conference, which ran concurrently to the trade events, featured leading speakers and experts and drew favourable reactions from delegates and local professionals.
