Orlando, FL (PressExposure) February 16, 2012 -- Barrett Farm of Florida, Inc. (Orlando, FL), and Performance Transformation, LLC(Venice, FL), announced the launch of the Transition as Transformation workshop, scheduled for February 25th and 26th, 2012. The hands-on program works with horses to introduce a set of easy-to-use life tools designed to help people feeling disengaged, tossed about by change, or displaced by our rapidly shifting society.
"We're very excited to be partnering with Barrett Farm to bring this innovative, experiential learning workshop to Orlando," commented Terry Murray, Managing Partner of Performance Transformation, a personal and professional development firm dedicated to increasing mindfulness and compassion in business and the community. "The bucolic setting, remarkable staff, and beautiful horses at the farm combine to create a perfect setting for a reflective, life changing experience."
The workshop integrates The Epona Approach with evidence-based, scientific research that provides insights into how we experience, process, and respond to our emotional landscape. Unlike many seminars, the workshop is not lecture based. The concepts are experienced first-hand, immersed in our natural world through ground-based exercises with the horses. No previous horsemanship experience is required to attend.
Jacque Gellein, of Barrett Farm, commented, "We are all born into the birthright of unlimited potential. Yet our contemporary world pulls in many directions, often away from our authentic sense of self and from our inherent connection with the natural world. Horses' unique talents for reflection and insight, gifts they share with us when we are quiet and open, instill a knowing that each of us is meaningful and contributing to the whole of life. The horses are the lamplighters for us, gently bringing us into attunement with what is natural, divine and real. When we partner with them to learn, they guide us to find and use the grace and power that resides within us all."
"In 2011 we had the privilege of conducting similar programs in Montana, Colorado, Florida, and Hawaii," adds Terry. "The feedback we received from the participants was fantastic. The experiences with the horses imparts a powerful shift in perspective, aligning our hearts with our heads, clearing the space for personal growth and creative thinking, enabling us to take command of our own lives."
The workshop will be co-facilitated by Laura Gurtis, a seasoned, expert equestrian instructor, and Terry Murray, a professionally trained life coach, author, and creator of The Accretive Coaching Process. Laura and Terry were classmates in the Epona Apprenticeship Program, graduating as Approved Epona Instructors in 2009. The Epona program represents the most comprehensive approach to Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) available, requiring more than a year of study to complete. The approach was created by best-selling author and EFL pioneer, Linda Kohanov, and has been in practice for more than fifteen years.
"What's so refreshing about our approach is its focus on co-creating authentic relationship with the horses," said Laura Gurtis. "As prey animals, horses naturally mirror human emotions, providing immediate, nonjudgemental feedback as to how we connect, engage, and motivate those around us, all without the use of dominating or coercive behavior. The lessons emerge from within, opening our hearts to fresh insights for self-care and genuine compassion for the people in our lives."
