Fellow NFL players, retirees, wives, media, members of Congress, and our FACEBOOK family:

I could not be more pleased than to make this announcement- Mary Elizabeth Mecom, a member of the family that was the original owners of the New Orleans Saints, has joined the Board of DIGNITYAFTERFOOTBALL (DAF) and joined the fight for justice and dignity for all retired NFL players, She is disgusted to be part of he class that is abusing the heroes who made the NFL popular in the first place, and Mary has vowed to be part of the SOLUTION, not the cover-up. You will hear much from Mary Mecom in the near future, for now please read her press release below. DAF would like to thank Mary Mecom and he other ex-owners interested in joining our cause, not just to help DAF, but to help ALL NFL retirees.

Mary wrote to us:

" Brent,

I do consider this an honor and will do all I can to help you and countless other players.

My Best,

Mary Elizabeth"

Mary's official press release is below.

DAF is eternally grateful to Mary, and thanks to Greg Koch for finding her and enlisting her help. You will hear much from Mary in the weeks to come.

Mary Elizabeth Mecom Hahnfeld

As the daughter of John W.Mecom, Jr., founder and former owner of the New Orleans Saints, Mary Elizabeth Mecom Hahnfeld is honored to be invited to serve on the board for Dignity after Football. She is proud to have an opportunity to work on behalf of the outstanding pioneers of professional football who shaped the National Football League.

Mary Elizabeth grew up among many of these honorable men who gave their hearts and souls to the game. "I grew up watching football and considered the players family," Mary Elizabeth says. "There was criticism that we were too close to the players and that those relationships affected my father's success as a team owner. It is true we were very close to the players and still are. My family has paid for numerous players to get the medical help they need for problems resulting from injuries sustained in their playing days."

"These players were upstanding role models for so many young athletes, and they gave me and America so much, that now I feel it is time for me to give back to them. They may be retired and out of public view, but they play on in our memories and in countless game films which continue to entertain America and the world."

About dignityafterfootball.org (DAF)

dignityafterfootball.org was the first advocacy group for nfl retires fighting for benefits- many, most, with pre-existing conditions cannot get health insurance and are bankrupted into homelessnes, painkiller addiction. MaryMecom, as a former NFL owner, will make a HUGE impact on how the NFL treats (or mistreats) the heroes who made today's $billions posible by sacrificing minds and bodies.
