The rumor circulated from a website titled FarmvilleFreak, which stated that as of April 1st 2010, Farmville would come at a cost of a $5.99 per month. The rumor also alleged that the new Farmville would include new features and plants. Ironically, April 1st is also April Fools Day. Farmville boasts over 31 million daily users and over 80 million users a month. Users are so Farmville crazy that many wake in the middle of the night to harvest their virtual crops and spend countless hours online. The company is reaping the benefits of the phenomena. Zynga does charge for virtual goods that users add to their farm, such as virtual fountains or rare virtual plants. Users can either pay directly for these commodities or complete surveys on behalf of Zynga. Zynga is currently estimated to be worth $3.3 billion dollars and growing.
